Microsoft has released an ?out-of-band? security bulletin to address high-level security exposures related to the Internet Explorer web browser. Out-of-band updates are not frequent and are usually released to address a severe risk. Information Technology Services has already begun the process of rolling out our typical monthly updates and will do the same with this newly released update once it has been tested and approved for deployment.
This update will require your machine to reboot in order for the update to take effect. You will receive a pop-up notification when the patch is available for installation on your computer. All computers not patched by 5:30 this Friday (1/18) will automatically install the patch and reboot at that time. Any unpatched computer in a powered-off state at 5:30 Friday, will install the patch and reboot the next time it is turned on.
